Girth
It’s not the length of time
we’ve been together
that really does it for me
It’s the width of experiences
and the penetrating thrusts
of your beauty
The length is nice too
Of course it is
Naturally
But it’s the girth of this love
that you’ve placed here
throbbing inside me
Which allows me to feel
sympathetic towards
abandoned denim
and appreciate the subtleness
of hungry squirrels
and hopping birds
(from my book Love Does Stuff, Amber Lodge Press)
I thought of you this morning when I turned on Pandora and it’s still set on Loverboy Radio…and the very first song was Working for the Weekend. And then the 2nd song was Rock and Roll Fantasy, which unfortunately I can’t hear without picturing Lynda Carter. And I love Lynda Carter and all, but man that shit was cheesy… How are you? I’m dying slowly…12 year old Nancy has harshly been thrown into the future 41 year old Nancy’s body holding a syllabus. Sigh…

“By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired.”
~Franz Kafka
The next morning in my notebook I found ‘remember to download The Kid Is Hot Tonight’ scribbled in sloppy space pen, but I still haven’t done it. Maybe there’s a Linda Carter version out there somewhere. What if Linda Carter and Loverboy are the same damn thing!
